Activity
China-US (Chengdu-Haslett) Summer
High School Student Exchange Program
In the USA,
the program is divided into two parts:
The first period from July 29 to August 18 – American life
During this period of time, teachers and students from China stay in their
host families. They listen, talk, observe and do things with their host
family members to understand how their host family members make living in
the United States and try to get sense of other people.
The second
period from Aug. 18 to Sept. 15 – School life
During this period of time, teachers and students
from China stay with their host families who have children going school. The
Chinese visitors will go to high school with those children, sit in their
classrooms with those children and participate school activities. In this
process, Chinese children try to get sense of what and how their American
counterparts are doing at schools.
In China,
the program is divided into two parts as well:
The first
period from July 11 to July 15 – Beijing life
During this period of time, teachers and students from the USA meet their
Beijing counterparts from Beijing No. 4 High School, the most prestigious
high school in Beijing. The American teachers and students visit historical
and interesting places as well as go shopping together with their Chinese
friends. On their stay of the last day in Beijing, they also visited Beijing
No. 4 High School. The focus of the trip at this part is to learn about
China from historical perspective.
The second
period from July 15 to July 28 – Chengdu life
During this period of time, American teachers and students stay with their
Chinese host families in Chengdu. But they participate arranged activities
together. The activities are done by the school in Chengdu beforehand. In
order to have Americans have multiple experiences, their activities not only
are focused on historical part, but also are on life, arts, and school.
